FAQ

What is the best time of day to have our pictures taken?

The best time of day is about 2 hours before the sun starts to set. In spring this is between 4pm-7pm. The reason for this is to avoid the harsh sun when it is higher in the sky and also to avoid too many shadows.

For some families with younger children this may seem difficult. Rest assured we will have a lot of fun and they will be superstars no matter what.

How long will the session take?

Being a mini photo shoot it will take no more that 30 minutes. If you would like longer or have more than 1 family that you want in the photos then book 2 sessions back to back.

Where will the session be?

There are a lot of amazing locations in the Manawatu area for photos. This is just a few...

  • Victoria Esplanade and Rose Gardens
  • Manawatu River
  • Centennial Lagoon
  • Bledisloe Park
  • IPU Grounds
  • Linklater Reserve
  • Ahimate Reserve
  • He Ara Kotahi
  • Mt Lees Reserve
  • Your Own Property
  • And many others

What should we wear?

I think natural colours with a pop of something more colourful works really well. Colours that are seen in nature are perfect...tans, browns, greens, red, paired with denim etc. I can also send you some colour palette samples to help you make decisions.

  • Flowy dresses for woman and girls always look good.
  • Clothing with texture.
  • Hats
  • Denim
  • Jackets for layers

Here are some timeless colour palette ideas and a couple of 2023 on trend spring colour palettes.

What not to wear?

Stay away from logos, characters and words on clothing.
